Dominic Mortimer, 31, tragically passed away unexpectedly on February 3, 2020, in Eccles. Despite having epilepsy and diabetes, Dominic had been managing his conditions well, with infrequent seizures. The day before his death, he had mentioned to a friend that he’d experienced a seizure, but appeared otherwise fine. On the morning of his death, he was found collapsed by his stepfather, Danny, who performed CPR. Paramedics were unable to revive him.

An autopsy found no clear cause, and after ruling out drug or alcohol involvement, doctors speculated that his death might have been due to Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP). The inquest concluded that his death was a result of natural causes, influenced by his epilepsy. Dominic’s family has been left devastated, remembering him as a kind, caring, and funny person, who lived life to the fullest despite his health challenges.
