When baby Redd was born in 2012, his parents, Patricia and Dale Williams, were overjoyed. However, they quickly noticed something unique—his hair was pure white, and his eyes moved constantly from side to side.
Concerned, they researched his symptoms and suspected albinism. A visit to an optometrist and genetic specialist confirmed their suspicions. Redd was diagnosed with Oculocutaneous Albinism Type 1 (OCA1), a rare condition affecting 1 in 17,000 people worldwide.
In 2018, the couple welcomed another son, Rockwell, who was also born with albinism. Sadly, both boys faced bullying at school due to their appearance, despite their older brother Gage’s efforts to protect them.
Things took a turn when a photo of Rockwell was stolen from Patricia’s social media and turned into a meme. Instead of letting it bring them down, the family chose to become advocates for albinism awareness. Patricia gained followers and used her platform to educate others.
Redd later underwent eye surgery to correct his strabismus, helping him transition to public school. Today, both boys are thriving. A recent video of Rockwell at school was met with love, proving that acceptance is growing.
