A brave police officer from Detroit bravely rescued a shivering pit bull that had been bound to a porch.

The heroic rescue of a Pit Bull puppy from a porch in the dead of winter by an officer of the Detroit Police Department is the hero of a touching story.

Without hesitation, Officer Eric McCombs rescued this unfortunate soul from her freezing situation, turning him into a hero with his touching act of kindness.

Sad to say, it’s not uncommon in the Detroit region for people to abandon adorable animals like these to die of exposure to the harsh winter weather.

Stories of rescue and kindness will live on, thanks to dedicated people like Officer McCombs, even at the worst of times.

Pit Bull Trapped in Subzero Wind Chill

When Officer McCombs was out on patrol in the middle of the night, he saw a poor puppy out in the bitter cold tangled in a porch chain.

Since this officer loves dogs so much, he didn’t even hesitate to save this little girl.

It seemed impossible when I approached her. I was just like, ‘I need to rescue this puppy’, officer McCombs said to The Dodo.

That particular night in Detroit, the windchill dipped to -20 degrees, which is an unbearably cold and hard condition for a dog to remain outside all day.

The deliberateness of it infuriated me. Who is capable of doing this. Officer McCombs stated, “Somebody decided, ‘I’m going to chain this dog to a porch and leave her there until she’s completely malnourished.

The poor puppy was not just chilly but also quite hungry. Her eager eating of the goodies they gave her demonstrated how desperately she needed warmth and food.

Her appearance alone told me that she had not eaten in a long time.

She was thrilled at last to be free and terrified at the same time when they let her off the porch. She hurriedly climbed into the police car.

There was frostbite on her ear tips. Once my spouse and I had her in the car, we were left wondering what to do next. We had to take her to an animal shelter in the end, McCombs added.

The dog was ultimately taken to Detroit Animal Care and Control.

Nevertheless, one of the policemen was unable to get her off his mind.

Positive Starts

Officer McCombs thought about her all the time while she was at the shelter—how she should have been treated better than a small kennel cage.

Her life should have been excellent.Who, though, was going to give her that?

Officer McCombs quickly realized that he had fallen in love with this adorable little girl, who he would eventually name Sweet Pea, and he made the decision to formally adopt her. .

Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue responded to his call for assistance with the following Facebook post:

“We went and pulled her today after one of the officers, who couldn’t get her off his mind, contacted us. After we attend to all of her medical needs, her hero will adopt her. Police Officer McCombs of DPD!

Though Eric had one dog already, Homer, he felt in his heart that he had to help this little creature. That was an occasion to remember. The vet, the food, whatever—double it all. It was necessary, McCombs stated.

Sweet Pea was a novice inside dog when she initially moved into her new house. She would not even eat peanut butter or leap onto the bed or couch.

All she needed was some time, which she received in plenty.

Soon, Sweet Pea learned to embrace the joys of her newfound life, reveling in the love and care that surrounded her.

Now, she’s loving her new dream life, with her past life on the streets of Detroit fading into a distant memory.

So Very Heroic

Other dogs that officer McCombs has pulled from Detroit’s streets include Sweet Pea.

He really rescues dogs wherever he goes, acting as a real ray of hope for a great number of abandoned and mistreated dogs.

How about saving Pit Bulls while working as a police officer at the same time?He asked, and I think the same thing: why not?

I appreciate all that Officer Eric McCombs has done for these defenseless animals.Their lives are much enhanced by your commitment and compassion.

“We are so proud to have Officer McCombs as a part of our team and thankful that he is an officer that goes above and beyond to help the voiceless animals that need a hero,” Detroit Pit Crew Dog Rescue stated.
