Even though we all know Belgian Malionis to be courageous, incredibly bright, and devoted, these amazing dogs never cease to astound us! Eva, a two-year-old Belgian girl, amazes us with her incredible loyalty when she witnesses a mountain lion attacking her owner while hiking.
Eva once again shown why dogs are the best pets by willingly sacrificing her life for them!

Eva Jumped To Save Erin Without Hesitation
Erin Wilson never would have dreamed that she would have to battle a mountain lion when she went trekking with her family dog, Eva, along the Trinity River in Northwestern California!
The untamed creature lunged ahead of her, grazing her shoulder. When she let out an involuntary cry of shock, Eva, her devoted Belgian Malinois girl, intervened!
Even though the mountain lion was twice Eva’s size, she still leaped on it with courage. Erin rushed to retrieve a tire iron and assist Eva, but the two struggled. She began using it to beat the predator, but it didn’t seem like she could win.
Eva was attacked by a cat that bit her head, piercing her skull with its long, sharp teeth. Thankfully, a few oncoming drivers intervened and used pepper spray to repel the lion.
Serious Injuries to Her Head
Eva was badly hurt, and there was blood all over the place. Her fractured skull and perforated sinus cavity caused her to convulse during the ambulance ride to the hospital. This courageous dog faced significant injuries throughout the fight, and there was a risk to her life.
In Northern California’s Shasta Cascade region, the Redding hospital admitted her. Eva, being a resilient canine, managed to survive. However, she required a protracted recuperation, which is why Erin launched a fundraising campaign to pay for her brave daughter’s medical expenses.
Because of the swelling around her eyes and the continued high pressure in her head, Eva was kept under heavy sedation for several days.
The courageous girl passed away, yet her legacy endures.
Eva felt better for a while following the medical intervention. After she got home, she went about her daily business. She showed no signs of frailty at all, even going for regular walks with Erin.
The one thing Erin was terrified of did, however, eventually happen! Eva experienced abrupt convulsions during the night, and her condition worsened.
She slipped into a profound coma and was unresponsive to anything. Unfortunately, Eva’s body was not strong enough to fight this struggle, and she died a few hours later.
When Erin discovered her brave girl was no longer with her, she was crushed.
“The world is not equitable. It’s inhumane. This was not anticipated to occur. Now that our baby is gone, nobody comes to cuddle with us. We’ve lost our kissing moments. The fur on my girls isn’t super soft. She was quite sensitive. Very delicate,” she posted on Instagram.
Eva passed away unexpectedly, but her bravery will live on forever. She was Erin’s angelic protector, doing everything within her power to keep her alive. You’ll live on in memory, sweetheart!
