Regretfully, a lot of dogs do not have the good fortune to live with loving and happy families.
Daily, dogs of many types, sizes, and ages are abandoned and left to fend for themselves on the streets.
Though the world is depressing, happily, there are hundreds of amazing people performing amazing actions for every evil person.
Many pets are given another shot because of animal sanctuaries like Lewis and Clark Humane Society.
Taking in almost 1,500 animals annually, this open-admission shelter in Helena, Montana.
With a 98% adoption rate, they hold onto every dog for as long as it takes to locate them a golden basket.
While certain canines are adopted out of this shelter rather quickly, others practically become permanent residents.
Nothing compares to loving parents and a house, but it is better than living on the streets alone.
Among those canines who have spent a very long period at the shelter is Bubba Jr. It was a sad 93-day stay for him.

Though he is a stunning dog, he struggled to find a home because he is a Pitbull.
The shelter stated in one of their postings, “Terms for Pitbulls are still being tossed about. Pit Bull, please. Pittie, where? Hippocrates in the home? Drool monster, what? They don’t care at LCHS. I am as they see me. Huge and lovable dog-head!”
Many unfavorable misconceptions surround this breed all the time, which certainly hinders adoption.
Not to mention, a lot of landlords are not exactly pet-friendly—especially when it comes to Pitbulls—and forbid possessing a dog.
Dogs like Bubba Jr. spend so much time in shelters because of this reduced chance of adoption.
Many of these dogs are really kind animals at their core, waiting amiably for the day when happiness knocks on their door—or kennel, to be precise.
The shelter said of Bubba Jr. in addition to his adorable name:
“If we gave out trophies to all of our dogs, Bubba J’s trophy board would read, ‘Most likely to kiss.’ He like to sprint up to kiss and hug his human buddies. He enjoys his human teammates to bits and is always willing to go on walks or watch movies on the couch with them. Bubba is honing his hugging skills or gulping down his food when he’s not practicing kisses. He truly is a one-dog team; extra dogs (or cats) are not necessary to hold his interest.”
Though he adored everyone at the shelter, Bubba Jr. had a special place in his heart for one volunteer. And it appeared like this volunteer liked Bubba just as much.
93 days at the shelter later, a volunteer made the decision to adopt Bubba instead of continuing his hunt for a permanent home. What a wonderful day for the entire shelter that was.

Bubba’s contribution to the journal melted everyone’s heart. People were so happy that little Bubba was finally getting his happy ending, a warm bed, hugs and toys, but most of all a new father who will love him dearly.
The volunteer’s selfless act showed everyone why it is so important to give shelter dogs desperately waiting for someone to love them a chance.
“Dear Diary, It’s day 5 in my new home and how different everything is…. I love my new life in this place called “home”. Every day I wake up to my favorite volunteer and every day is the best day ever!”

There are so many dogs waiting for someone who will love them forever, but unfortunately many of them don’t have the chance to stay at the shelter until they find a home.
