Someone viciously tied a dog and her youngster in a sack on a lonely dirt road and discarded them; they are lucky to be alive. But her life was spared because of a good individual who happened to come upon her.

A well-wisher told Josiane Almeida, an animal rescuer from Lagoa da Plata, Brazil, about a distressed canine family.

Her husband and she parked right away on a rural road and started filming what they observed.

What Josiane observed astounded her even after working with a lot of animals from violent homes.

In an online post, Almeida said, “Some of the worst abuse scenes I’ve ever seen.” Tied in a bag and dumped into the middle of nowhere was a sick mother and her puppy. They have been there a while.

No doubt startled by her situation, the mother growled lowly as Josien walked up to the puppy. Standing next to her seemed to be a puppy that had slipped out of the bag. Three additional puppies, though, were confined inside the sack with their mother.

Still, they are going to be released shortly.

Josiane saw the puppy was weak and hungry and the mother was experiencing issues. She brought the family home so they can relax and have food and water.

The veterinarian told her later that although all of the puppies were healthy, the mother had cancer.

Social media was used by Josiane to ask for assistance in paying for her chemotherapy, and friends and supporters responded.

Josiane is currently taking care of the mother dog, who is also receiving treatment. Adopting the puppy will happen when they are ready.

That she could assist the dog comforted Josiane.
