Dogs are members of our family the moment they come into our house. We provide for them all they need to survive: love, care, and security.
The number of owners that desert their dogs and violate their confidence is quite depressing.
Among the pets abandoned is La-Z-Boy Gatson, who waited for his owners without understanding they would never return.
A Road That Is Deserted
A 4-month-old puppy discovered abandoned in Lincoln County, Mississippi, in June 2019 was clinging to a chair along Gatson Road.
Sharon Norton, the Animal Control Officer, showed up. It moved her to see a little puppy curled up in a recliner seat next to a TV that had been thrown out.
He looked weak and obviously had not eaten in days.Though he was hungry, hope remained in his eyes that his master would return.
The dog was abandoned and was left in a chair. He was adamant about staying put.
Sensationalized And Secure
Norton walked over to feed him. The dog was relieved to have someone looking out for him, giving him treats and saying comforting things he sorely needed to hear.
He was calm.Norton was able to win his trust.
“When I picked him up and carried him to the animal control truck, he was overjoyed. His waging tail was smacking my back. Norton remarked, “He feels he’s secure now.
To the Brookhaven City Shelter Norton took him. He had a ringworm treatment and a bath. Then he was moved to Brookhaven Animal Rescue League, where he carried on his recuperation.
The road where she found him and the recliner inspired Norton to name him La-Z-Boy.
He is an amiable puppy that likes to relax and hang out with people, according to the rescue personnel. He has a large playmate base and is quite gregarious. His favorite past time is playing in the water.
He was placed in foster care after being brought back to health with the expectation of being adopted very soon. He waited, thankfully, not too long.
The Happy Resolution
La-Z-Boy Gatson declared on his Instagram account in July 2019 that he has found a loving family and his permanent home.
After reading his heartwarming account, Dave Trammell and Sommer Guy, his adoptive parents, traveled more than 15 hours from Michigan to Mississippi to meet and adopt him.
Something about his appearance really spoke to me. He seemed so depressed and adorable, Trammell recalled.
La-Z-Boy settled in at his new house rather fast.Days later, he started to sleep with his tummy up and became really calm.
He probably just wanted a place to call home. When we arrived, you could tell he was quite thankful, Trammell said.
Plymouth, Michigan is home to La-Z-Boy and his family. He still likes to take naps and travels in the car with Penelope, his dog sister. His leading his best life makes us very happy.
