Their owner wanted to have them euthanized because he was moving in with his girlfriend.
It is one thing to abandon your pet, but it is quite another to have your two (quite healthy and happy) dogs put to death for a minor inconvenience.
Ten years passed while they lived with him.
A guy in Indiana, USA, asked to have his two dogs, Cosmo and Sam, put to sleep at his neighborhood veterinarian in June 2018.
Sam was a Pointer and Cosmo was a little Labrador Retriever cross; they were a senior dog duo that was bonded.
The two dogs, who had spent almost ten years living with their owner, were incredibly sweet, content, and healthy.
The charity says their owner wanted to have them put to sleep since he was moving in with his dog-allergic girlfriend and they no longer thought of them as essential to their lives.
Thus, he reasoned that “convenience euthanasia” was the best course of action rather than trying to find a means or even visiting a shelter and turning in the canines.
Convenience euthanasia is the term for requests to terminate an animal’s life because it is no longer suitable for their owner.First of all
Fortunately, Cosmo and Sam were in excellent health and did not deserve to die in that way, hence the veterinarian declined to put them to sleep.”Unless it is to end suffering, none of us want to end a pet’s life,” the veterinarian stated.
The two canines were delivered to Valparaiso, Indiana-based, foster-based, non-profit dog rescue organization Begin Again Rescue Co. (BARC).
Sam and Cosmo Discovered Their Permanent Home
Cosmo and Sam needed some time to recover from their sadness at being abandoned, but with the support of the amazing volunteers at BARC, they were able to resume eating, playing, and being themselves.
Though they had a lot of life still in them, it wasn’t easy to find a forever home for a bonded pair of senior canines.
Cosmo and Sam traveled to P.A.W.S. Tinley Park, an Illinois, USA, no-kill animal sanctuary, for assistance after a few months of not finding a home.
Senior dogs are typically much more difficult to find homes, but happily Cosmo and Sam did in the beginning of December 2018.
Eric and Tiffany Dybas adopted them; the pair had recently lost their cherished dog and, upon learning of Cosmo and Sam’s story, had fallen in love.
Sam and Cosmo are lounging on a comfortable couch tonight because of our friends at P.A.W.S. Tinley Park. Since kids behaved so well when they saw Santa, their Christmas desire has come true. They are homeowners, according to the BARC Facebook post.
The shelter reports that the two gorgeous boys are loving and spoilt to the utmost in their new home.
