Seeing the terrible situation of abandoned stray dogs makes one cry. Still, not all mother dogs are as strong, brave, and protective of their pups as Si Bao.

This dog was involved in a terrible accident where a train crushed her hind legs after being “mercilessly abandoned” by her owner. Till she gave birth to four incredibly beautiful and healthy pups, Si Bao’s life seemed hopeless. These pups essentially became the reason this poor mother dog survived.

Si Bao regained her joy of life after having children, and she always maintained a strong and resilient attitude to take care of her children. Walking on two front legs, Si Bao watched over the kids.

Si Bao was more luckier when the Jill Robinson-founded charity Animals Asia saved his family and appointed this valiant mother dog as an animal ambassador. Si Bao has therefore been moved to the offices of the organization, where he may start a new life with his child instead of battling to make ends meet from the leftover food that passengers discard by the train track. Only Muddie is still alive.

To enable her to roam more freely, Si Bao has been renamed Lelly and plans to have wheeled prosthetic legs fitted. When the group located Lelly, three of her four puppies had passed away from high fevers, leaving just Muddie.

Right now, Lelly is enjoying life as an Animals “Asia animal” ambassador.

Lelly, for all her little size, is a perfect example of an unwavering character that perseveres in the face of adversity.
