Not that she chose to live on the streets. She had been deserted earlier.
It was too late to run from the streets, though, when she learned she was giving birth. There was not time to locate a place to stay. She needed every strength to bring the babies into the world; they were on their way.
Brokenhearted, worn out, about to faint
This abandoned dog mother exhibited every power and fragility a mother possesses.
Does her tale finish happily? Will anything pleasant happen for a change after all this pain?
Fantastic work, Momma. Here Comes the Puppies
I was just devastated by the picture of a new canine mother lying helpless next to her newborns that were born a few hours ago.
The picture was screams, shouts, and yelling for assistance!
There was nothing more in this sad dog mother.
In so many ways shattered, how could she be strong?
Her collar says her prior owners abandoned her earlier. Her babies had to be the reason for it. Looking for a quiet place to give birth, this lovely girl was wandering the streets without food, drink, or shelter.
Plans do, however, occasionally remain just that—plans. She was shocked into labor and forced to give birth on a piece of cardboard on the street.
There came into the world six puppies. Unfortunately, as their mother drove them out, two of them were already angels.
The mama grabbed the last ounce of her power and stood up even though she was beyond fatigued. She had to defend her little ones.
She had no idea those folks were attempting to support her. She was defending her children to the hilt, behaving angrily. She seems unaware that not everyone is out to get her or that occasionally people can be nice.
The rescue team was attacked three times by the mommy before they managed to capture her and take her, along with her little ones, somewhere safe.
Back at the shelter, the rescuers were relieved that mommy had enough milk to feed her pups. Mommy needed to be fed as well, now.
She was beyond worn out, hungry, and aching to have a decent dinner.
We all know that dogs usually eat one or two meals a day, but the mother ate three times that day. Her first two meals consisted of around five pounds of liver! She was that hungry.
The puppies were fine beyond the crucial first 48 hours. They started growing, opening their eyes, and enjoying the beauty of puppyhood.
The mommy was doing fine, too, although she was still a bit traumatized and nervous around people. But, that’s okay. Sooner or later, the dog mommy will find it in her heart to trust humans again.
If it wasn’t for these good people, dog lovers, and rescuers, the poor mommy would have starved to death and so would her puppies.
After all that trouble in her young life, the mommy was finally blessed with the life she always deserved.
I know we can’t save all stray dogs. We can’t adopt them all or cure world hunger. But, at least we can spare a couple of bucks and feed dogs on our streets. If everyone wanted to chip in, the number of stray dogs in need would be drastically minimized.
