A Life-Altering Emergency Call for the Officer
On July 16, 2020, Officer Sara Rogers of the Augusta Police received an urgent call to assist a distressed dog that had been left behind in the streets of Augusta, the capital city of Maine.
With a heart full of empathy for puppies, especially those in need, Sara wasted no time in preparing herself and rushing to aid the little one.
Right after arriving at the location, she swiftly picked up the puppy, gently placed her in the passenger seat, and promptly rushed her to the vet for a thorough examination of her injuries.
As the veterinarians carried out their duties, the officer and her colleagues made every effort to locate the owner. Regrettably, it was not successful. Or, luckily… we will see.
The veterinarian requested Officer Rogers to keep an eye on the puppy overnight until the Kennebec Humane Society staff arrived for work. This was easily manageable for Sara. She seemed to have an intuition that something extraordinary would come to fruition.
A Special Moment Of Unbreakable Bonding
During her night shift, Officer Rogers made it a habit to regularly check on the pup. She had developed a strong bond with the puppy and made an effort to spend as much time with it as she could.
She even shared her meal break with her new friend, and that was truly the moment when they formed a strong and lasting connection.
As a result, she made the decision to take the puppy under her care and provide a foster home until the puppy could be adopted. Surprisingly, this led to her entire family developing a fondness for their new tenant.
Exactly one month later, on August 18, something truly extraordinary occurred. When the dog became available for adoption, Officer Sara couldn’t bear to bid farewell.
Rey, who named the puppy after her beloved Star Wars Jedi character, found a new home sooner than anticipated. From that moment on, Rey’s life was brimming with an abundance of unconditional love.
This story shared by the Augusta Maine Police Department on their official Facebook profile is truly heartwarming. The note at the end adds a touch of joy, reminding us of the beauty of happy endings.
